Volunteering at New Hope
This week we welcomed another group of volunteers into the shelter house. Gone are the days when we recruited volunteers to paint, caulk, scrape, and otherwise add sweat equity to the shelter house. Today we need volunteers who can supervise the house for 2-4 hour shifts once a week while helping do some of the clerical work associated with running the shelter. We also need volunteers who can develop programs that serve the needs of children - education (tutoring, mentoring) and recreation (teaching children to ride a bike safely, connecting children to recreational opportunities) and adults (job skills, including help with resume writing and interview skills, parenting skills, and help finding affordable housing). If you have a special skill and can help us achieve our goals of helping homeless families regain self-sufficiency, please send an email to volunteer@nhfsinc.org and we can arrange to meet and find a way for you to get involved.
